Jarring Effects from France, Lyon, just invaded Berlin with a Label Night, with the Créme de la Créme of their Dub / Dubstep / Global Beat Bastards. Filastine had a short visit in January for the CTM already (check interview) and High Tone came at the end of 08, if I’m right. L’ouef Raide originally comes from a Hardcore / Punk background (I like!), then gave all his energy into hardcore electronic experiments with traditional instruments and in 2001 he was crowned the Decouverte Electronique. And now he is doing abstract hip hop / electro. And last but not least Led Pieperz comes from a grindcore/ metal background and does heavier electro now.
It was good to see all those guys together at once, and High Tone are worth it, alhough my favourite because of stage action and live darbuka and maybe the Barcelona connection still is Filastine. However, I’m also looking forward to the next label gigs Jarring Effects is preparing because Zol will be next, and I just love to play the track “Syphillisuperstar”, which came out on the last label compilation (Zol will be in my next Blitzbeats #5 on April 8, too).
