Freakshow! My mailbox is bursting and I get new tunes from three different cool sources at the same time. Wow, that’s a heartinmigration record so far!
So, lovely party people outside there in wild, wild West, here we go with the first:
Mexican Dubwiser: El Andén (Bajofondo Tango Club feat La Mala Rodriguez Remix)
He send me four good tracks (all in Cumbia Version), one of them a remix of Manu Chao’s “Politik Kills”, but I didn’t manage to upload more songs for listening until now, because my hosting service taks ages to upload a song. Anyways, Manu Chao doesn’t need explication I think, but Bajofondo and La Mala maybe (that’s why you have this track to listen to). Bajofondo are from Buenos Aires (yes!), playing Electro-Tango, and are lead by Gustavo Santaolalla and Federico Campodonico. Santaolalla made the soundtrack for the “The Motorcycle Diaries” and “Brokeback Mountain”, has his own label Surco Records, on which he brings out lots of good Latinamerican artists, and his past can be described as wild punk rock years.
La Mala is one of the best known Spanish female hip hop artists, well known for her good and reality / street based lyrics. Her past can be described as wild years with hallucinoides and lots of ghetto life in Sevilla. And if you listen to Filastines Blentwell Session, you can find her voice on it as well.
It happens that I made an interview with both BFTC and La Mala in 2005, so here a little more to read for you!
