Living in Queens just above Brooklyn and going by metro I passed several times a massive brick building known as 5 Pointz. 5ptz is an artist building full of artist studios and basically open to all kind of street artists to enrich the colorfull facade and interior of the building. Just blocks from P.S. 1, 5 Pointz is the “Institute of Higher Burnin’”. Not a museum or gallery, 5 Pointz is a living collage of a graffiti art converted warehouse. The art of famous and novice graffiti artists covers the building’s facade, all done with the encouragement of the building’s owner. 5 Pointz is even considered the worlds first graffiti mecca, as it unites artists from all around the globe. Initially the wareouse only ment to unite NYC artists from the 5 boroughs – that’s where the name comes from. However, any given day you pass by now, you’ll be able to find well-known musicians, artists, rappers, DJ’s, break-dancers, filmmakers or photographers from all over the globe.

The curator Jonathan Cohen aka “Meres One” – an artist himself - seeks to convert the factory warehouse building of 200.000 square-foot into a graffiti museum. He has reached it by now already, as you can see in the picture I would say.

As I’ve been in New York the past ten days and went to see lots of interesting events I also was lucky enough to spent my last night at the Trouble & Bass 3rd anniversary in Le Poisson Rouge with special guests Skream & Benga. I knew Skream and Benga are on top of the game but I didn’t expect them as top as they were at this party. They absolutely killed it! Or better said, Skream rocked the party almost all by himself, as Benga didn’t get much on the decks to not interrupt his flow. Great party and great people, the audience basically everywhere – on stage, in the hall, around the DJ table – and everybody with the hands in the air. Absolutly gorgeous. It was kind of an festival atmosphere, where everything just becomes one and you feel the bass flowing through your whole body. Star Eyes from T & B also layed down a pretty cool set before the English Dubsteppers heated up the room.

So, DJ $mall Change invited me to New Yorks East Village Radio – an advertising free online radio station with 80 shows a month 24/7 – in the middle of the East Village right on 1st Avenue, to join his show “The Big Cover Up” as a guest. Great show and great music, as mister small change is a real crate digger (yo real nigga) and has been dj’ing way long for over ten years, doing those “No Parking on the Dancefloor” parties and music direction for the APT club, apart from another show on the infamous WFMU radio station in NY. Anyways, I got  a little interview and did an one hour set live with some bumping electro bassline swing hardcore global shit. So if the sound is a bit wacky at some point, that’s why it was all recorded live and put online right away, no mastering!
