I´m playing at Zeitsalon Wien tonight at a party called FAVELA BLAST.
For those that coincidentally stumble upon this blog and ask “huh, favela, what?” there is a movie called Favela on Blast directed by Leandro HBL and Diplo about the origins of Baile Funk, the raw urban miamibass-driven-percussive-samba-rap-beat from Brazils Favela´s. More about Baile Funk and Favela´s on wikipedia.
Nontheless, I won´t be playing much Baile Funk as I often dislike the lyrics, but I´ll mingle it with Kuduro, Electro Cumbia, Dubstep, Glitch, distorted Balkan, Glitch Punk Disko Heavy Metal! Ya know what the direction is.
For audio supply check some of my Blitzbeats shows from last year done for Sonett77 in Berlin.
Party: Sat 20st March 2010
Time: 22h – ???

Btw, this is also the beginning of my mini Euro tour, that completely organized itself all alone. 3 countries in three days: Vienna (Austria) on Thursday – Bern (Switzerland) on Friday – Barcelona (Spain) on Saturday. In celtic culture the number three means evolution, growth and a union between body, mind and soul. It manifests the beginning and the end, the eternal evolution and comprehension. It also symbolizes the past, the present and the future. On the other hand in Jewish culture, if something has been done three times, it´s considered to be permanent, called JAZAKA (explanation thanks to Species Mag March). Let´s see how this trip turns out!
I got a mail from Milan, one half of Shazalakazoo out of Belgrade, a few days ago, if I could pay some attention to their music, so I did. Furthermore, I’d heard of Shazalakazoo before; they’ve played in Berlin, Dortmund and Vienna at some known places from world music people and seem to have a good following with their mix of balkan traditional and electronics. Their new album “Speaking Balkanian” is out right now and has a good floor filler bounce. So, dear readers, attention please, Belgrade is coming!
Yesterday was the record release of [dunkelbunt]’s new compilation “Sun Dub” at the infamous Dub Club in Vienna, which is revivaling right now. Having restarted in July at Camera Club, it’s changed already from the first Monday a month to every Monday partying.
Back to dunkelbunts compilation, “Sun Dub” includes several remixes from dunkelbunt himself and tracks from others, such as Eastenders and DelaDap!, 5nizza and a Remix from DJ Delay aka Brian May from Australia / Berlin. Furthermore it includes his track with Cloud Tissa called “Kebab Connection”, which gave the beat for the night! The Camera was absolutely packed with approximately 500 people in both rooms, and [dunkelbunt] acompanied by Kenyian MC Cloud Tissa kept the crowd raving the whole night through. Balkan, Drum n Bass, Cumbia, Swing and Bass were fused with African English lyrics and fine mixing – all together a good booty shaker!
Furthermore, for the CD aficionados there were free spices from [dunkelbunt]’s laboratory called “Kebab Gewürz” for take away in the second room, where the other DJ’s Monee Loves You and Gumix were playing Latin-House.
Funky stuff, Dub Club seems to be back after the long break!
