Palladium, a brand of boots which was born 1947 (after their tires for the fledgling aviation industry didn´t sell much anymore) and tested by the French legion in South Africa, recently launched a new series with environmentally friendly hemp boots. With their boots on they went diggin in hidden places again. Palladium has been to Berlin´s, New York´s and L.A.´s weird, mysterious and rugged places before and now made a visit to London´s underground; following radio DJ´s to hidden pirate radio studios in tower blocks transmitting from rooftop antennas. The pirate movement goes back to the 60´s and although “the internet has changed the role of radio broadcasting, the pirate radio role of breaking new music remains the same”. Well said, the DJ´s from rinse.fm wouldn´t be where they are now, without their regular shows on the station.

Included in Palladiums UK Plans were the public screening of the Pirate Radio documentary, which included performances by DJ´s and MC´s like Logan Sama, J2K, Jammer and Ms Dynamite.

I´m a huge fan of punk rock and hardcore and even more if it´s mingled with some proper balkanesk screaming whiskey voices. So, I´m especially happy that Gogol Bordello from New York are going to release their new album on April 27th and cheer us up with a free tune beforehand! Lovely start for a Saturday evening.

Btw, I actually just played a J.U.F. track on the radio yesterday, which is Gogol Bordello vs Tamir Muskat. Highly recommended album too! Oh, and I often forget about this, but I did Gogol Bordello Mashups too – Copycat and J.U.F., just check the Mashup section.
